Visual Recap: TOOTS and The Maytals At Party In The Park

Once upon a time, in the year of 1942, a boy named Frederick Nathaniel Hibbert was birthed in May Pen, Jamaica.Singing Gospel music as a child, Frederick “Toots” Hibbert was energized by performing. Every day, he grew as a musician, and of course, as a human being. Toots was clearly born to perform.

One day, his career broke free. His first album, “Funky Kingston” was released in 1972 by Dynamic Sounds Studios.  Toots began to see dreams come to fruition.

Due to resilience and hard work, his popularity as a musician sky-rocketed.  Recording smash hits such as “54-46 Was My Number,” “Pressure Drop,” “Reggae Got Soul” and plenty more. Toots also received notoriety for inventing and coining the term “Reggae” which is now, as we know, the name of one of the most popular genres in the world.

Toots has dedicated his entire life to spreading love through performance and music.  Now, finally, at the age of 76, he stylishly strutted into Rochester, NY, to perform week two at the Five Star Bank Party In The Park annual concert series at Manhatten Square Park.

On a cold and wet evening, Toots quickly brought warmth to the devoted crowd. The city of Rochester was joyed by Toots and his bands’ high energy, feel good vibes, and captivating performance this past Thursday June 13th.

Rochester Groovecast thanks Toots and The Maytals for putting on such a great show! In addition, big thanks to opening stunners, “Noble Vibes,” and “The Majestics” for kicking off the night in style. Thanks to The City Of Rochester and for making this event possible. Thanks to everyone for being there and giving us an opportunity to capture this moment.
