Rise Up! is community, music, art and activism festival to benefit progressive politics and causes that improve the quality of life for the people of Rochester. This is a sequel to last year’s Bernin’ Down the German House festival that drew out over 1000 attendees and raised 15k for the Bernie Sanders campaign in Monroe County.
The event was raising money for ROCitizen; B.L.A.C.K., and Women Elect. Read more about these great organizations below!

*** ROCitizen is a grassroots organization that grew out of the Bernie campaign that is committed to building a community where people come first. We support candidates who share our vision for a more equitable Rochester and work to strengthen awareness for policies and programs that would benefit all members of our city, county, and state.

*** B.L.A.C.K. | Building Leadership And Community Knowledge is a grassroots collective created to empower the Black community through education, awareness, leadership development, cooperative economics, social media, and tactful action in an effort to combat the many disparities caused by institutionalized racism. Through a unique focus on Black cultures, as opposed to race, the group strives to help emphasize the value of Black lives and promote solidarity amongst peoples of the African diaspora.

*** WomenElect is a leadership development program that gives the tools and the knowledge to run for office. Their political action committee WePAC also supports and funds women candidates.

Hosted by Mary Lupien for Rochester City Council***
